Can someone tell me what could be causing a crack, which is traveling within the mortar and going upwards?...it has caused the mortar to crack between no more than three bricks. The bricks are ok but the crack starts from the top corner of the front door, travels for three bricks and disappears? It doesn't look serious but its best to know what I am dealing with.
Would be very grateful for any advice and also on how to repair the damage...Thank you.

Pics would help give a more accurate answer, but it is probably due to movement or settlement.

Trees are a major cause of this, as they suck the moisture from the sub soil/clay which causes the movement.
