hi can anyone help i have a wall that has artex on, it is a swirl pattern but is quite light and hardly raised, i am wanting to paint this with emulsion if i put a heavy lining paper on will it cover the light artex. can anyone please advise on if this will work if not what can i do

Hi Shelley,
You will need to remove the artex, this can be done by sanding or steaming. The lining paper will not hide these imperfections, and without a flat surface your paper wont stick. Another option is to get the wall skimmed by a plasterer.

Artex is a real pain to remove, be aware that some older artex may contain asbestos and so sanding it is not a good idea. You could sand it off if you were 100% sure there was no asbestos in it, but you can only tell by getting it tested.
