This is a bit like Hoovies question - I should know but I don't...

And it's totally theorhetical...

If I want to copy a film DVD that on a dual layer DVD, will it fit on a 4.7gb DVD

I was under the impression that dual layer disks have more capacity - in the region of 8gb

So it won't fit will it...

But I've looked and can only see 4.7gb versions of DVD-R+R etc for sale...

Am I being more of an ass than usual?

Cheers

Just seen the PC shrink thread Embarassed Doh..!

But don't want to compress stuff I'd rather copy exactly as is.

So can I buy dual layer blanks?

You need a Dual Layer capable DVD-Writer of course Laughing
And those blanks are significantly more expensive then the basic 4.7GB (sometimes more then the film you may want to make a backup of!)

I use the DVD Shrink and the results look fine (to me, anyway)

kin hell 19 quid for 5 What the ? Shocked

look here
http://svp.co.uk/category/double_layer
or
http://www.burn-media.co.uk/DVD+R9-Double-Layer-c-401.html

another fiver on top delivery but thats for either 1 pack of dvds or 50

as Hoovie has said though make sure your writer can do em

most films /dvds nowadays are done on a dual layer (supposed to cut down on piracy due to expense of blanks) but you will find that the film itself will fit on a single layer ,they just pad it out with extra`s /menu`s etc
so you can actually use dvdshrink and just get the film ,thus losing none of the original quality
