Hi all, I recently bleeded the radiators in my house and quite soon after that my combi boiler started making some very strange and loud noises, After investigating the pressure on the boiler was at 0 and it seems this is what is causing the problem. I have seemingly found out that it is the fill loop that re-pressurises the system but having tried to adjust the flow it doesn't appear to be making any difference to the boilers pressure read out. I openly admit I haven't really got a clue what to do, does the boiler have to be on to re-pressurise? i assumed it didn't.Any ideas or more professional help much appreciated,

Cheers!

The filling loop is where you need to look.

It should come out of the coupling at the cold mains feed to the boiler and connect to the radiator feed.

If you can supply a picture of the underside of the boiler showing the loop it would help.

ok this is a picture from the bottom of the boiler as you can see the filling loop is visible going from the 2nd pipe on the left to furthest right (this is the hot water pipe i assume as it is insulated farther down) there is an adjustment screw on where the filling loop leaves the 2nd pipe from the left however adjusting this does not appear to change the pressure!?

Does the filling loop, loop round the feed (right hand one) and enter it on the right side?

I'm concerned to tell you to turn anything on as I've seen a few loops connected at the mains feed but not connected at the system feed, there is usually a screw on coupling to be connected, so if you turn the mains on the loop it just floods the area.

The positioning of the loop suggests it being 'stored' there and as I can't see the connection (the photo's isn't clear) I don't want to go any further without more info.

Try the photo (maybe 2 if you need to) at a slight angle the flash won't bounce back so much.

I would like to see both ends of the loop and the couplings.

apologies for the poor picture quality but it is extremely difficult to get to the position that the pipe is in, the 2 pictures show where the pipe runs from and its connections, in picture 001 you can just about see the adjustment which i assume should open the valve and fill the pipe....but it doesn't.

I'm sorry too.
I can't see from those pictures.

Try without flash?

i appear to have had a slight breakthrough, i found a very small leaver near the end of the pipe which has now repressurised the system, i've repressurised it to 1.5 bar the downside is that now when i am switching the boiler back on its not coming on still showing the red light, any suggestions?? Thanks for your continued help.

What Make and Model?

Well done finding the valve, that's what I couldn't see and taking a chance isn't worth it.

If you have the manual, there will be a reset sequence, or use the emergency one and switch off for 5 mins and on again.

Hmm,
Did you turn 1 valve to recharge or 2?

Just go back and check you put everything back to the way it was before you filled with the loop.

All valves should be in line with the pipes¦

initially i turn a valve on the left side of the pipe but it had no effect, i then found another valve on the right side which seemed to be letting in pressure but the presure wasn't increasing which i assumed was due to the valve on the other side still being open, i then closed that and the pressure went up. As far as i'm aware everything is now back to how it was but still no joy in getting it to fire up
