Hi Folks
Anyone got or used the CLARKE 151 TE GAS MIG ??

Im thinking now of getting one of these - But dont know if I should go for the "EN DUAL PURPOSE" one

Are they anygood for car Bodywork ??

My concern was that the Dual Purpose one wouldnt go down low enough for car body work as read a lot saying that they have more power to melt the flux wire
I know both machines say 30 amp min
But I know they bend the truth a bit - just dont want to get the wrong machine

Thanks for any advice / time

Johnny

I havn't got or used one, but they do seem reasonably popular amongst the members of the forum i linked to in your other post.

If you are planning on car work, i would say you want a gas MIG, much better results than using gasless wire.

Have you got any other projects planned for it?

Hi Hich
Thanks for the reply
Ive had a SIP MIGMATE 100 GAS mig for about 15 years and although people do say the wire feed is rubbish on them its been ok

Ive restored a couple of cars with it - but havent got any workshop facilitys as such anymore just my garden shed now :cb

I was going to try and bobge some flux wire into the mig and hope for the best - but on a service of the SIP the gas pipe has split where it enters the machine so have decided to bite the bullet and invest in a New one :thumbright:

I mainly just mess on in my shed now making brackets and bit - out of angle iron 2-3mm thick
I had thought about the Clarke 100E machine - but reading on here a lot recomend going for a machine with more power so the option is there for heavier stuff

I dont do my cars anymore -(Ex partner put pay to that and my workshop !!!) :angryfire:
but might get time when I retire so was after a do everything machine sort of speak !!
Ive still got access to mig gas off a mate thats got a contract so if the No gas ones are rubbish I will just get the gas version

Seen the MILLER No gas demo on Y/tube and it looked good but probably wont get much change from a couple of grand for that one !!

Im off on a tangent ranting again - but thanks :salute:

Theres a fair few other options for gas now, making it a little more cost effective for the occasional user. Rent free cylinders etc.

The gasless always seems rubbish from what i have seen. The couple of times i have used it havn't been very impressed tbh.
But then, im used to using industrial machines with premium gas and wire.
