This guy cut his hand whilst using a circular saw, I only have the one picture but this looks extremely painful and he has not regained full use of his fingers yet and may not fully regain the use of his fingers.

Be very careful when using power tools and always keep your hand away from the blade.

You have been warned :!:

Wow

I can only say ... he was lucky.

What I mean is, he could have lost all his fingers.

Please people, be very VERY VERY careful with power tools, they are NOT toys many people has end up 6 feet under because not taking them seriously.

A power tool is as dangerous as a gun.

I've seen it with my own eyes, and I'm talking about professionals. Imagine if you are a DIYer, take as twice as careful.

Just a comment.

I saw a 999 episode (presented by Michael Burke on bbc1 a few years ago) where the guard on a circ saw was damaged and didnt spring back. The bloke put it down and it cam straight for him, up his leg and through a major artery Shocked

hitch ive seen this for real

the guard had a broken spring, as always on a civils site, on price work (so no work bench or saw horse of any sort) the 4x2 was rested in his leg like all of us

saw went through the timber then most of the way through his lower leg bone

his jeans jambed the saw blade before it went all the way through

LOL not at 100mtrs they're not Wink

It's not just power tools you need to watch out for.

Years ago a guy died on a BP job using a screwdriver as a chisel.

The sharp bit got stuck so he pulled on the handle, which came off in his hand. He lost his balance because of this and fell forwards onto the tang which cut that big vein in the thigh.

He bled to death in minutes Shocked

I was in hospital in 1988 and the guy in the bed next to me had managed to take a chunk out of his leg with a chain saw - now that was gory!

Mind you I was in after a parachuting accident - what a plum!

Nothing like finding out the hard way on the use of a power tool.

Had a shop teacher that cut off his big toe with a lawn mower. Pulled the lawn mower right on to his foot. Kids went around yell, he was calm about it all. Had to tell everyone what to do.

When i left school and started as an apprentice in a machine shop every woodmachinist had one or more fingers missing and i mean everyone they used to joke and say your not qualified untill your've lost at least one, I remember one bloke took his index and second finger off down to the second knuckle, they sewed them back on but after 2 years of more ops to try and make them usable again he told them to take them off again as they were just a pain in butt Laughing Laughing

They are perfectly safe if used correctly.

Unfortunately you do not need to take a test before using powertools to see if you have any common sense Shocked
