Hi Guys,

I need some help please!

My new consumer unit was fit about three years back and I want to upgrade the shower MCB for a RCBO, but I can't see a manufacturers name on the consumer unit or the mcb's

I have taken a pic of a logo from one of the mcb's perhaps one of you guys could please identify the brand?

Cheers Tom Wink

Hello, your fusebox/MCBs are made by GE, or also used to be known as Vynknier. Not asure if they do a single module rcbo for this board or not.

Try looking at

www.thefusecompany.co.uk

Well done Nick, I didn't have a clue Confused

Toolstation seem to sell GE rcbo's but not sure if they are the right ones-
http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Electrical/GEPower/d190/sd3102

Screwfix sell MK ones that are much cheaper-

http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?id=20793&ts=02586

Sometimes you can fit other MCB's /RCBO's into other makes of consumer unit if the din rail and bus bar are in the right position. I'd remove an mcb and take it to your local electical wholesalers and see Wink

I would never fit anyone elses make of MCB into a disboard, it only takes a slight difference in the size of the busbar spacing or terminal size to create a potentially dangerous hotspot, also it invalidates any warranty you have with the manafacturers of your distribution board. Also it looks crap in my oppinion, looks like a DIY job and rings alarm bells as soon as i see it in a board. As for that RCBO fitting nto your disboard, it most likeley will fit, but check with the manafacturers first and see , sometimes they make a retro-fit kit for it to change betweeen different spacings of busbar .

Tomm, you must be one of the 75% of people who dont know how to use most of teh settings on the modern gadgets we have!

Try to find the close up setting, maybe under the settings on the "scene" setting!

No offence, i only just found it on my camera! Laughing
