i had to do this to repair a mates kitchen after a party went wrong. his parents would have gone ape sh*t as they are extremely stern at the best of times. any way it took best part of an hour and a half and they never noticed the difference. (and beleive me my mates dad has the eyes of a hawk) that included the time to strip the unit out of the kitchen which involved removing a couple of appliances and some beading which ran beneath the kitchen worktop.

if its a temp fix and he isnt too bothad then id probbably sugest the car bodge route already sugested. or could always just whack some butt hinges on onstead of propper kitchen unit door hinges
