I hate it, queues into town, no where to park when you get there, then queues at the shops,queues at the bank, queues every effin where, then you buy things just for the sake of having something to give that'll end up in a cupboard or drawer and never get used, you have to eat turkey ( I f'kin hate turkey )just cos everyone else does, the pubs full and its hard to get served, kids running round screaming, the whole streets lit up like blackpool prom and the everybodys saying merry christmas, the sooner its gone the better,

I love a good moan me

I'm giving the kids a set of batteries with a label proclaiming "toys not included"........

My sympathies tomplum

I'm just back from the new Primark in Edinburgh.

I lost the will to live 15 minutes after going in (it was it's 1st day open and was just a stramash) I've NEVER seen a shop so busy as this one was.

has buying cheap tat among thousands of people, most of them probably not even wanting to be there (maybe just the men) got to do with Christmas??

I phoned the wife (who seems to enjoy this kinda nonsense) to tell her I'd be in the pub across the street. Real ale, pork pies and a coal fire. Brilliant.

A bloke I used to work with says it was invented by the Jews as they owned all the department stores

Also because so many people dislike Christmas it often leads to it kicking off in the forum, which is why some forums close for the Xmas period

Interesting you should say this, as I always found that tensions rose on site/at work in the run up to Christmas (and Summer Holidays). I've seen guys near kicking hell out of each other at Christmas, when they got on fine the rest of the year.

Must be all that 'Peace on Earth' and 'Goodwill to All Men' bullshirt I keep hearing about.

Busy as f**k round here today Took 45 minutes to go into town, when it normally takes around 15 minutes (even in the rush hour, it only takes 25 mins)
One of the Shopping Centres , just off the ring road, was choc a block with traffic (apparently a store (Best Buys) is closing down today and everything must go) People are queuing up to save a hundred quid on a 40" TV, they really don't need, or £50 off a washing machine/computer/DVD recorder etc

I hate shops like Primark with a vengeance. I've heard people say things like "I didn't need five tee-shirts but bought them because they were so cheap!"

"Buy it cheap, buy it twice" is my motto.

Not too bothered about most of what you said, and I quite like the lights and merry Christmas stuff.

But, I completely agree with the present buying thing. I'd rather not receive anything at all than something which will never be used/worn. It's all such a waste and so shallow and materialistic.

I like buying presents if it's something I know the person will love. If not, I really don't see the point.

Amy9 - I told my family I would like just one present this year rather than them all spending lots of money on loads of different things, most of which will never be used. They followed my request and I got the present I wanted and I have already used it for hours every day since Sunday.

A very good idea. If only more people did this. What was your present if you don't mind me asking?

It was a rather snazzy docking station for my iPhone. I've wanted one for ages so it was a really special present and I am so pleased.

Mrs d'A did the same (ask for just one present from all of us) and we bought her a new television for the kitchen. At first we objected, saying that a television in the kitchen was a benefit for the whole family, but she insisted that was what she wanted.

i spend less on shopping than the rest off the year
i look after my friends an neighbours all the year round so dont celebrate xmas
presents never happen when the morons tell us they tend to be handmade recycled remanufactured and turn up randomly when ready to be rehoused any time throught the year

i dont do cards as my son is now 20 lol
its fantastic as its only me as my son goes to his mums over xmass has done for all off the last 12 years
i love being on my own to please my self i get on with variouse bits and pieces i have awaiting attention and i dont have to cook because every family around me has bought to much food and either because they dont believe me that i am happy or because they have too much food i finnish up with all sorts xmas related food including a turkey carcass which i will turn into a curry ' soup or both dependent off the meat left for 10 to 12 people
