I am having a chimney removed from my victorian sandstone house as its constantly leaking and as its not used, may as well not be there! I am having conflicting advice from builders as to what they will do once they take it below roof level so am looking for some advice. Opinions have been:

1 - drop below roof, cap with slabs or similar in loft space to seal and seal off existing vents in 4 rooms below
2 - drop below roof, cap with slabs or similar in loft space to seal and leave existing vents in 4 rooms below open
3 - drop below roof and leave as is, open to loft space and existing vents in 4 rooms stay open
4 - any other thoughts / opinions?

Thanks in advance,

Andy
