I just received an email from a member that thinks this site could possibly be infected with a virus as each time he visits the forum.

The member is using Google chrome and this is what he is experiencing- "every time i visit your site on the forums my computer gets a virus, i loose control of the curser, it starts flying round the screen, after a short while i can't do anything only shut down my computer, run an anti virus and its ok again, till i visit your forums"

I think the guy may be having issues with loading the website, sounds like it could be an issue with flash or java.

UHM works fine for me in Chrome. I'd be extremely surprised if the UHM site did have a virus as it'd have been picked up by my AV by now.

I am curious as to how he runs an AV program if his cursor is playing up and he cannot control it.
I am sure that if the site had any problems then they would have manifested themselves on a lot more than one computer by now.

Without more info on what his computer is running, software versions etc, and which Java Runtime and adobe Flash are installed, it is impossible to to offer much help.

hi it doest happen straight away i visit and its happening again now, but not so extrme, the curser is moving around so i don't know how long i've got before i loose control,
by running a virus scan i can get rid of it, but it returns when i come back on here,
others have told me i might have mouse issues, but why does this site seem to affect it more, ?

What does the virus scan say, does it identify the virus.

no thats the funny thng, it does't find any infections, but when the scan has finished, i have control of the curser again,

For how long? Until you visit UHM again?

Is it a wireless mouse and/or an optical mouse with the red light under it? If so, change the batteries in the mouse. And is your mouse mat a plain one or one with jazzy colours on it?

What Windows operating system do you use, XP, Vista or win 7?

Which antivirus program are you running?

Which browser are you using to access the site?

I know it's all questions at the moment, but we can probably narrow it down with a few answers.

its a wired mouse, xp. avg 8 free. and google chrome, and just now every thing is normal, the curser started to dance earlier on but seems ok now,

Have you tried another mouse to see if the problem persists? If it's an optical mouse (one without a ball) have you checked if there's any dirt covering the sensor? You could also try this, go to Control Panel, click on "Mouse". Go to the tab "Pointer Options" and untick "Enhance Pointer Precission". If when you go to the Control Panel you can't see a the Mouse option, choose "Switch to Classic View" on the right hand side of the screen.

I'm wondering if tomplum has a faulty piece of software on his system somewhere (bad flash install or similar) which is causing the system to lockup temporarily, causing the mouse issues. Running the anti-virus would restore the focus possbily depending on the priority of the application.

Though I do notice that something on the site (possibly one of the ads, maybe using badly formed flash, I'm thinking pokerstars as its the one on display at the moment) is causing my browser to slow down and the cursor to stick here and there as I'm typing this.

Tom's issue could also be caused by having a lot of tabs open at the same time, numerous sites with flash ads being displayed would slow the system down markedly, especially on an older or low end system.

hello everybody. thank you all for your input, i lost control of the mouse again last night, and a scan has again cleared the fault .I've got a computer expert coming round later today he's going to have alook and i'll report back when he's been,

my expert has just been, he agree's with scot-canock its a mixture of flash soft ware and adverts getting in, everywhere i go screwfix items follow me around, this is part of the problem, infections are coming with them, and getting in, he's installed a anti virus which will hopefully keep them out,

Not to be picky, but Malwarebytes is an antimalware program not an antivirus, so I trust you still have your AVG antivirus program running.

Is the Malwarebytes the free version? If so, it will not offer real-time protection, just removal of any malware when you run a scan.
Only the paid-for version offers real-time protection.
Did he leave you any instructions on updating and running it?
If not, I will post some instructions for you, it is very easy to run.
