Hi,

Replaced radiator downstairs in the hall and was feeling very pleased with meself.
Needed to drain down the system because the old valves wouldn't budge. When I tried
to refill, I came across a blockage, bled and bled and bled to no avail. Eventually, I
put a hose up thru the drain cock in one of the lower floors. Managed to fill all the
rads downstairs but there's nothing upstairs. The water started flowing back on
me when I had it turned up high. There's a fair amount of microbore upstairs
and i suspect some sludge too. The expansion tank in the attic is full. It's an
open system.

Any ideas how I'd move this? Time was it I'd take out the radiators and wash them
through out the back garden but I just can't lift them anymore.

Thanks for your help.
Clint

Should have cleaned the header tank before you drained down.

Is there a 3port valve and did you put in the manual position.

If you drain some water off does the header tank empty?

I tied up the ball cock before I drained the system. I'm not sure what the configuration is in the
attic. It's very hard for me to get into it because I'm injured. I turned on/off the water at the mains
valve under the sink. I took a feed off the washing machine valve to pass the water back up.

I just drained a basin full of water off and the tank did refill..........slowly.
