how do, i did a 4 day course a bit ago and on it they told us to skim the ceiling first , my question is -is there a special reason for this the thing is we skimmed my mums dining room and did not do the ceiling cos it had polystirin panels on it but now my mum has stripped them off hoping to just paint it and it looks like we're gonna have to skim it after all so is it ok to just go back and skim it .cheers

I would guess it is because when you skim the ceiling there is a big chance that you will drop plaster onto the walls and so it would be best to do the ceiling first.

It doesn't matter if the walls are dried out though as it will soon clean up.
