Hi all,

the question I have is, what spacing should I use for the 2"x2" timber which is hung under block and beam flooring using universal clips. The plasterboard will be 12.5mm sheets, should I space at 450mm or 600mm?

Thanks for any help.

400 centres I would say. Watch out for the plasterboard being 1220mm wide, which would put your centres at 407mm. Centres wider than that and the plasterboard is likely to sag.

I would go for 400mm centres, although many trussed roofs are at set out @ 600mm centres and this is then boarded; more noggins will be required if you go for 600 centres.

To the best of my knowledge P/b is 1200mm wide now, not seen imperial widths (full 4'0") for a long time.

as said in an earlier thread... all the stuff i do i have to set stuff out at 16 inch centres. though i mainly use the handy boards.

in the other thread i stated if i set out at 400 centres i have to cut small strips off every board.

dunno if its a manufacturer thing or something? i use lafarge boards. but think ill be changing as the quality of them is getting worse lol...
