| I had a contractor telling me that if you use paintable caulk to fill cracks in plaster and then mud over it, it will last longer? Says when the house settles the caulk is flexible and the cracks won't reappear. Has anyone ever heard of that? |

Hi Milly18,
Caulk is usually an acrylic based paintable mastic which is applied via a mastic gun, this is great for internal angles and wall to ceiling joints plus around skirting and so forth, but not really any good to use on a flat ceiling or wall.
How old is the ceiling and is it skim over plasterboard,if so i would have it reskimmed because by the time you've filled all the cracks and prepared ready for painting you could have had it reskimmed.
Hope this helps. _________________ What was the best thing before sliced bread? |
