Well Quidco get the thumbs up from me as I've saved £130 on my car insurance by using the site.
The cheapest quote I had after shopping around quite a few insurance companies was £156 (yes I'm old & so is the car )
Prudential insurance are giving cash back of £130 for a policy took out with them through Quidco.....so I tried a quote from them....fully expecting the quote to be a lot more than my £156.
To my surprise the Prudential's quote was £152
So £152 - £130 cash back = £22 ....for a year’s car insurance: grin:
So yes I totaly recommend Quidco |
Nice one ...
Old Car you say? well..... The AA have got some sort of special deal on where if you quote some code or other on checkout, you get £20 off or something, plus Quidco are doing £25 cashback on AA - so with the basic AA policy costing around £40 or something, you get get breakdown cover for your jalopy for free (or even less then free!)
don't know the full details as I didn't need to bother with that as I got free AA homestart+recovery with a bank account
(that is a different story ) _________________ I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"

Word of caution on using cashback sites ...no, not backtracking on the idea at all, but they use cookies to record the visits and linkthroughs to the comopanies selling the products. They also only get the money from the companies to pass on to their members - you and me - when there is evidence of the transaction being made via the quidco (or whoever) passthrough link.
So - bottom line - to get the cashback, make sure that you are logged on to the quidco site and you end up at the Pru, or John Lewis site, or whoever, by pressing the large button on the quidco site that says "click here to visit this merchant and earn cashback" and that that is green !!
Also make sure cookies are working on your system for the visit to be recorded and you to earn your cashback.
It is all automatic and becomes second nature, but some people use s/w tools to prevent cookies etc for safety, so just need to be aware how it works - there are some useful tips here http://www.quidco.com/help/77/
The tracking thing is the absolute only problem I personally have every had with quidco - lost out on a £20 cashback as no record of my visit to a site - apart from that, got paid as they claimed every single time.

Thanks for that, but I've just realised that I get free Green flag recovery plus breakdown cover worth £54 with the Prudential policy
This deal just gets better...
A years car insurance + breakdown cover for £22...Excellent
Regarding the cookies and link through’s to the companies...
I normally clear the cookies before I make a purchase via Quidco….I have only ever had a purchase not track once….but I just submitted a manual claim & I got paid ok. |

Really? I need to check the wifes policy I think (she hasn't got the AA herself but is the one with the cheap Pru insurance)
cheers! _________________ I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"

Had a look - nah Think I must have deselected the green flag - oh well. You got one cracking deal
of course, as big-al said, "...ok for your amounts to work they must have been avalable any way as in if you shop around you ... " so anyone finds another £22 car insurance with breakdown cover deal, let us know _________________ I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"

It may depend on when the policy was taken out as it could just be a new offer.
I didn’t think it was included with my policy that I took out earlier this week as when the paperwork turned up there is no mention of the breakdown cover.
Also on the purchase confirmation e-mail I received it states NO breakdown cover.
If you look on the prudential’s website it shows the free breakdown cover offer… http://www.prucarinsurance.co.uk/
So I rang them up & was told that the breakdown cover was included & they will send out the paperwork for it…they gave me the number for Green flag & told me that if I needed to use the service my policy number or Registration number of the car would do until I receive the paperwork. |

well i must say thanks for this. at 1st i thought "ahh yer the usual scams. i bet it's another, buy now at this price and then remember to claim it back 12 months later, as long as you kept all of your receipts"
having just spent over 2 hours reading all the links and site info for quidco and the other related sites, it is amazing how much you can actually save.
presently i have two vehicles insured with the Pru (who were way cheaper than everywhere else, including the ones that underwrite them for my insurance "churchill" who also say they will beat anybody lol).
i was also just about to buy a new mobile for my daughter and thought "i'll give this a check and see if it has the Carphone warehouse listed. having spent ages checking that place actually has the phone she wants cheaper than any other site." to my surprise, it was listed. guess wot im goign to do there then
to my annoyance i just found they also give 2% on play.com. a site i do use regulary and i just bought two dvd's off 3 days ago
thanks for this, i will be using it.
just for info purposes, on a simlar side to this you can pocket around a £1000 a year from doing a simlar thing on casino sites. they wanna pay you to play poker on their sites. it's a bit annoying sometimes allt eh info you have to put in, but 100% guarranteed, you will get cash back for sitting at ur pc playing games. |

Glad you tried it
One word of caution again (don't want to preach, but .....)
only log onto the gambling sites and take the initial cashback if you have good willpower! They rely on sucking people in - I got quite a few hundred quid on gambling sites via quidco , but put most of it back when I was bored and on-line - and I have a very non-additive nature, so be careful, guys! _________________ I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"

dont worry m8, i have no intension of playing with my hard earnt cash online. i do play poker agreed and i have been playing for 23 years but i prefer face to face games.
one of the main reasons i put myself off playing online is that i purposely tested it to see how easily one could cheat a game. it is so easy you wouldn't believe.
1) i connected to a site and a table on this rig through broadband and then i put a modem in my other rig just for fun, and connected to the EXACT same table through the phone line.
1 was then able to play two hands in the same room. one under my name and credit card and the other under my brothers account.
too easy to cheat the system
2) as a lot of us do have now, i also have a 24/7 unlimited phone use on my land line. just rang a m8, both of us played on the same table telling each other what we had.
there are so many more methods you can use and it all goes undetected.
i'll keep my cash for face to face games thanks. meanwhile, ill take their free offerings though |

Oh yes - Playing against a computer opponent at a respected gambling site is ok - in that they are regulated and *meant* to be the right odds, but against other humans on-line, FOR MONEY, no way!!
I love playing cards and used to play a lot on the yahoo games website for fun, never for money, and even then you get people cheating using IM and the like - why!!! _________________ I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"

If anyone interested in this cashback topic, they had an article on it on "the one show" today on BBC 1

They did undersell the insurance bit - quoting £30 cashback when it is normally at least £120, but like everything in this world, you don't get anything for nothing and buyer beware as always
As a sort of aside and extension - John Lewis is a great on-line shopping saver (if you like John Lewis, I personally do )
When I buy from John Lewis, I look for a voucher on the MSE website that gives you £10 off any order over £50, I get to JLP website via Quidco (2% to 9% discount dependig in type of product) and use my John Lewis Credit card (2% cashback in vouchers) - As I am gonna buy from John Lewis anyway, all savings are gravy _________________ I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
