It was £330 with a canon case, spare unbranded battery, 4gb lexar sdhd card, and a 3 year extended warranty. Its big compared to normal cameras, but its not a normal camera.

Its the dogs b*llocks

Its been out in usa about 4 months more than here, and theres plenty of reviews on amazon.com, if you want to look. The issues on there are mainly quality issues, which appear to have been fixed now.

All the camera mags reviewed it over the last few months, and all gave it 5 out of 5, and when compared to other top end compact cameras, it won every time

Got it here

It's amazing how camera prices are coming down so quick and such a highspec camera is that little Shocked

I like the feature that allows RAW and JPEG format pics to be taken at sametime.

FYI - I found a good value supplier of SD cards last week - www.play.com. Bought a 8GB microSD card + mini-reader for £17.99 inc delivery - std SD cards are probably even less

Have a look at the Sony handycam HDR-SR10e.
4.0 mega pixels, Carl Zeiss lens, face detection, built in hard drive, AVCHD format, memory stick pro duo slot up to 8GB. rapid fire photos or film. and you can take a photo whilst filming.

Best of both worlds.

Cheers for the info, have been snapping away lately with my Fuji compact but its now a good couple of years old, Handy looks like this could be a good next step for me, and maybe next year a DSLR to try and get some action shots of sports and airshows.

next step............its the only step to take. It is superb, absolutely brilliant.

already have a nikon d80 (as does the wife) with the various lenses, and this is an addition to the kit.

its not the cheapest, by about £20 odd, but you get a 3 year warranty. Arrived next day, well packed, and its just a website for a 'normal' camera shop in altrincham. they also answer the phone!

I went down the Digital SLR route rather then Compact Camera - I like the ability to have different lenses, just like your Nikon D80.

I have the Pentax K100D which I am very pleased with, although it is only 6MP and bought a 70-300 Zoom Lens to go with it

This is the Lincoln Memorial taken from the Washington Monument ( a distance of 1 Mile exactly)
70mm Setting
300mm Setting

Pics are on Photobuckt which shrinks them to 1024x768 max, so the real quality is a lot better.

i also have a 70-300, nikon. Its very good.

Only problem is if you look at a bigger zoom/fixed than 300mm. It becomes stupid in price. A nikon fixed 600mm is £5000 Shocked Then you look at the cheaper Sigma zooms (up to 500mm) and they are under £1000, but are not up to it (compaired to a nikon lens).

Most reviews say its ok, and worth the money, but you will want to upgrade to a nikon in the end. I just see it as throwing £800 down the drain.

Might rent a 600mm lens for the next year F1 in monaco
