Just reading about the siege of Srebrenica on the BBC Website and read this ....

"10 July 1995:The Dutch commander told town leaders that Nato planes would launch massive air attacks against the Serbs if they had not withdrawn from the safe area by 0600 the following morning.

11 July 1995: The Serb forces did not withdraw, but at 0900 Colonel Karremans received word from Sarajevo that his request for close air support had been submitted on the wrong form
At 1030, the re-submitted request reached General Janvier, but Nato planes had to return to base in Italy to refuel after being airborne since 0600"

his request for close air support had been submitted on the wrong form

no wonder the UN are a waste of time, dotting the i's and crossing the t's before they get off their arses :help:

you have a point Tel, but this "Form Error" may well have allowed 7,000+ people to have been 'ethnically cleansed' compared to showing the buggers that the UN/NATO really meant business

Legal forms can be a real nightmare.

If you accidentally fill in the incorrect form and it goes to court you will be punished severely. There is no common sense applied- I know people that have submitted forms under section 32a instead of section 32 and all the information has been correct, but it was the wrong form and when it went to court they Lost.
