Post no. 1, so easy as you go !

I live in a 1930s semi, with a cast iron soilpipe.

We are moving the toilet along the wall about 5 feet, which will put it on the other side of the soil pipe.

We were going to remove the stack, and replace with plastic, with a combination of disc cutter, lump hammer, and brute strength, but I am wondering, if it is possible, with the aid of narrow chisels, old screwdrivers, narrow drills, you get the idea, to break the (putty)? seals, and after smashing off the pipe that goes through the wall into the back of the toilet, turn the fitting thru 180, to receive the waste from the opposite direction ?

I know that cast iron is very heavy, and it would be great to hear from anyone who has done it, or failed to do it because of "whatever".

Thanks in anticipation.

The joint will almost certainly be tared twine and poured lead.

Could chisel it out if you have long enough.

Depending where you are the cast iron stack may be protected, may pay you to ask the building inspector before you take it down.

Another "cutting remark" from Razor ! :?

Do not fully understand what you mean by ....plastic from just below....,its the connection above that is the struggle.

I suppose if I do not get this sorted, I will require a "Large Loo Can".

I mean that I would probably just cut the stack below the waste tee and change it to plastic from there to the top.
