Hi all,

I am just in the process of purchasing my first home, and have noted that the bathroom sink features separate taps. I hate separate taps - they are pointless. I am wondering if there is a 'kit' out there that allows a mixer tap to be fitted to the sink, instead of having to replace the whole sink and tap? It appears that a bath mixer tap might work (as it appears to have separate cold/hot sources combining into one tap ABOVE the ceramic), but am not sure - obviously the distanc between hot/cold taps is critical. Does anyone have any suggestions, or can point me in the direction of somewhere that can help me?

Many thanks in advance.

Jme

If you buy any mixer tap you will find that you 'join' the hot and cold below the surface and the tap bit (technical term Embarassed) controls the flow of the hot and cold

I'm not aware of 2 hole mixer taps for basins, only baths & kitchen sinks.

You could try visiting a plumbers merchant or two, see what they suggest

A strange size Kitchen Sink Mixer possibly?

Like Hinton says you're going to be better of taking the sizes and heading off to the merchants.

Measure Centre to Centre of the tap holes and the size of the hole (that'll be your next stumbling block) can't remember of hand the dims but generally smaller than kitchen sinks.

Don’t look good but weirder things have been cobbled together.

I'll just wait here for Hinton to through on a Cobbled together comment!

basin & kitchen taps are both 1/2" thread, so you may find a kitchen mixer might fit! (as will fit thro the holes) Laughing

As JSK2Y3Sx says measure the pipe centers

How about using one of the "3 Hole" type basin mixers, where you have the spout separate to the hot and cold taps - and somehow mount the spout on the wall? Confused:
