I've used chrome for exposed pipework, you have to 'de-chrome' it to solder.
One of the older chaps like Scruffie, TomPlum or Dickie will be able to advise on tricks how to do it.

Yes it's still used, mostly with compression fittings in posh pads.

You'll need to ensure you get chrome on copper, and PTS is probably the best outlet but shop around for best price if cost is a consideration.

Nickel is more popular now than chrome.

I've never liked chrome, if you want to solder it you have to file off the chrome, very laborious and time consuming, other wise you need chrome compression, very costly and bulky and untidy looking, I always find, and definitely never use pushfit on chrome, it will wait till you go out, then the fitting will blow off, but there's no reason other than price and looks, if you want it, go for it, each man to his own, :thumbleft:

It is very easy and very expensive. if you can plan it so the connections are hidden, you can use normal compression fittings or even solder if you clean the chrome off.

I mention chrome on copper as it can be bent using a bender if good quality.

To be posh in an under sink storage unit, I once used 15mm chromed to chromed isolation valve to chromed 10mm tails and after a year there is black/green copper dust residue and the chrome is peeling-some sort of galvanic action! :dunno:
