right at the top of my garden it is utter rubbish! loads of stuff has been buried before i lived here and then mud thrown on top and then gravel. the steps over time have slipped forward and as you can see by the pics there are cracks, is this from the weight of the upper gravel bit? i am meant to be getting it done as a patio but am worried as that is more weight will it make the steps slide more ? the men who want to do the job said it wont? my concern is if i let them do patio then it will sink and step slide in a bit more time as i noticed the gravel does sink so whether that is as it is not compacted or what?
advice would be brill

Hi Dawn,i think the steps will be o.k., the gravel is'nt affecting them it's just the weight of them over time has made them settle. A new patio should'nt make them move any further in my opinion. Thumbright

As I see it the steps have had it and whatever you do will make no difference to them.

I would also suggest that the main problem is water in the gravel area which is building up like a swimming pool and trying to get out, you need to try and drain any water in that area.

cant say i have noticed any water log problem with it, i think the steps have been poorly made thou, maybe worth getting some prices to have them knocked out and something re done, all i know that area looks rubbish :D i dont know what can be done to the steps at moment to make them look nicer or whether it is best just to get knocked out
