Still thinking solenoid ...or maybe ignition switch (the thing your key goes in) otherwise :dunno:
Certainly I would not go randomly guessing and buying parts (such as a starter motor).
Yes I think you need an auto electrician.

But if I hear a click coming from the engine/Starter area when I turn the key, wouldn't that eliminate an ignition switch problem?
