i am looking to build a conservatory /garden room on the back of my cottage .
i am planning to use polycarbonate sheets for the roof and the main structure will be wood frame and planks , i intend to try and make it as warm as possable so will make a gap between the planks on the inside and the wood on the outside . what should i use to insulate the walls? also will plank the floors so want to put something under there as well . so should i use the same as the walls?
i was thinking of using agricultural glass as its cheeper but would this be too thin to keep the heat in ?
cheers for any advice in advance. Wink

You must use laminated glass in case the unthinkable happens should someone trip and go through the glass. Get the insulation as good as you can but forget trying to keep a nice ambient temperature. Get a small blower type heater to use when you are in the room. Heating the air in the room is all that is needed. Do not waste time and money on heating the sky.

If you are looking for minimal costs, one good way to do that could be used Double Glazed units? Always seem to be ones around the recyling centre.

Also maybe worth checking on FreeCycle or the like to see if anyone is diamantling an old conservatory?
