Brother just got back from Scotland and the above has taken over his computer.

I talked him into disconnecting it and reconnecting to the home hub, through internet connection.

Any suggestion or help, as I don't know if it wont come back.

Think for windows 7 it's pretty much the same as for vista...

Got an error message etc.

I'm out for a while then I'll see how he got on.

As above he managed to turn it off ok and connect to the home hub, all sounds like some dodgy goings on with BT.

IIRC the openzone stuff is a optional facility as part of a BT Broadband package where you allow other users access to broadband via your 'open' wireless connection.

This facility will show on a wi-fi as a means of connecting to the internet when you are outside your normal wi-fi user zone. Your wi-fi connection will have a list of 'stations' that you have recently used and, when connecting, will go through this list to establish the best possible connection. In the list of stations you can set a 'default' connection that will be tried first above all the others - usually your home wi-fi connection. It is possible to delete stations from your list if you never plan using them again but if there is a possibility that you will reconnect to any on the list, leave them, as the laptop will 'remember' the log-on process (username/password).

Right-clicking on the wi-fi icon at the bottom of the screen should bring up your wi-fi settings box and show (probably under a 'tab') the list of stations you've used/been using. Highlight the one(s) you don't ever plan using again and delete them from the list.
