I used my Bosch PMF 180 to do cut outs in a craft project and it kept unscrewing. I have the attaching bolt with the hex head and it seemed to screw on tightly enough but it kept loosening! Would someone PLEASE take their tool apart and show me what actually attaches the cutting blades to the machine, I think I've lost something! Bl**dy annoying! Thanks!

Mine was doing that at the start Bludall but it was me just not tightening enought
There is only one hex head nut with a washer attached. Is the washer is still in place and the blade is sitting into the notches on the machine?

you should have all the holes filled with dimples if the holes look empty you need to fiddle with the blade till it drops onto the dimples

I located all the dimples and holes and tightened the bolt as hard as I could and I'm not a wimpy female! Sounds like it's a design fault as it vibrates loose. To be honest i was a bit worried about forcing the hex key around too much in case it rounded the head.

Bludall, you are not using the origional bolt because you lost it right?
I can't see a reason why a hex bolt would not work instead of the origional allen head bold as long as the diameter of the head allows it to fit inside the ring of dimples. Is the replacement bolt you are using the same length as the origional?

try puting another slightly bigger washer if possible between the washer and blade as it sounds like you may have run out off thread

Darrenba,
Thanks for the pic!
Looks like I have got the original mouting bolt.
The other thing I found was that as I was cutting cut outs in thick birch ply with the BIM segment saw blade it was tough going and at one point it did look like it was almost charring! Is that normal? I know birch is dense wood but never had that before.

Thanks Chez,
I know we have those in the tool boxes, as I sorted them out!
What other attachment ends are good for the PMF189E? I just have the basics so far

I have the right bolt now, as my husband found it! He bought a new one but it just wouldn't stay on, it loosened fairly quickly.

OK, origional bolt.
Crank it well up. The supplied allen key is much softer than the bolt and will round before the bolt does so no need to worry about damaging the bolt.
Yes the 'charing' is 'normal' when cutting wood with this machine, especially if you are using the machine at the higher speed settings. If you turn the speed down it seems to cut significantly slower but the blade will probably last longer (as it won't soften as much with the heat), just depends how much patience you have.

I've not used it for a while but I'm sure it was still on the mounting bolt. I'll have to have a look, although where it has gone since Christmas goodness only knows!

The charring was the most disturbing thing, I didn't expect it! Great machine for accurate cutting though.
