| Looking at the deal that screwfix has on ,the 700watt gsb1600re and the bosch detector dmf10 zoom. The drill looks good but not sure about the detector, i know uhm uses his a lot for testing electrics but there seems to be conflicting reports that it is not that great at detecting timber studs and pipes so i am not sure if it is worth buying. |

| My bosch detector didn't pick up timber studs I was looking for, but it was accurate enough when set to metal that it DID pick up the plasterboard screws with enough accuracy that I found the studs that way. |

I have the DMf 10 zoom and I am not sure if it works or not.
I only really use it to find live wires etc.
When I get the garage cleaned out I'll be giving it a proper test. _________________ DIY | DIY Video |

Well, I managed to get it tested over the weekend and I was not impressed with it.
There are lots of videos on youtube promoting this detector, which are all the same video from Bosch with a different website name embedded into the video.
I have tried it several times in the house and could never find studs with it so I built a small stud wall in the garage and tested it there. It found a metal pipe no problem, but it could not find a stud or a live wire and so it's useless IMHO

The easiest way I have found to find studs is locate the screw heads using a strong magnet-
