I have bought a new house and just had the gas reconnected. The heating system was drained down, so i have refilled it. I then tried to fire the boiler up but it doesn't work.
The gas is getting to the boiler, it's pressurised to 1.3 bar, the ignitor is clicking away, but just won't fire.
I should have a heating engineer coming out tommorow afternoon, but just wanted to check with you experts that there isn't something very simple i should try before wasting his time!
Thanks,
Mark. |

The reason the pressure guage is reading zero in the above pictures is because the automatic air vent is leaking so i released the pressure.
Also, half way up the pipe on the left, there is a sensor/switch - what is this called as it will need replacing, one of the blade terminals has very nearly broken off.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Mark. |

Ok, very helpful chap came round today and told me he thought it was the pump siezed, then preceeded to tell me i could probably do it myself, so before ordering one from him for £165 i took the old one apart, freed it off and now the boiler starts fine.
The only problem now is when the boiler cuts out because the water has reached temp, it doesn't start again when the water drops below temp. I have to turn the boiler off and on to get it to fire.
The temp gauge on the boiler doesn't work either - could this be related?
Thanks,
Mark. |

nope the temp guage isnt connected to the pcb.... I'm thinking may be a faulty pcb, as could have a sticking relay on it. _________________ www.hintonheating.com
