We had a new radiator added a while back but things have never really been correct since.

All the right valves in the airing cupboard have been opened but one, which i can't tell if off or on, but is stuck solid.

If we had the hot water on, the radiators would get hot, not just the towel rads. We are now trying to turn the heating on but the boiler or the pipework feeding the boiler are banging, and pretty loud at that. After the boiler turns off you can hear water running in the pipes as if these are not filled up correctly.

This valve that i can't open/close, would this have something to do with it?

The boiler is a Potterton Suprima 60

Can any pass any info on what maybe causing this to happen.

Thanks

Andy

it was a friend of a friend. He's been back to have a look but the boiler seemed fine then (5 months ago).

I think it's time to look at getting a new pair of eyes to look at it.

what does the valve do, that you're not sure is open or closed?

have you checked the header tank is full?

Also to add. When the banging did happen whilst we was outside, water started running out of the Feed & Expansion Tank overflow pipe into the garden.

sound like the boiler is overheating then.

could be the thermostats on the boiler, slow pump, boiler pcb, lack of water in system

The header tank is full. I think this valve has something to do will the amount of water in the system, ie; not being topped up.

Does this sound right?

it could be on the cold feed between the header tank & the system. If its closed then this could be casuing the problem.
