Bluetooth is a wireless technology more commonly used with mobile phones but is getting common with peripherals like mice and keyboards.

Advantage of a wireless technology is no wires of course
Advantage of using a bluetooth mouse over another type of wireless mouse is that IF your computer had bluetooth capabilty you don't need to add in a USB Dongle - which is handy especially with a laptop.
If your computer does not have Bluetooth, then you would need to plug in a USB Bluetooth adapter for it to talk to the mouse.

I have the dongle plugged into the usb port and working on this laptop, but I haven't activated the bluetooth, as I don't know the advantages if any.

bluetooth is also referred to as PAN (personal area networking) meaning you can connect various items to the computer without wires, also it has security, you enter a pin on one device and use the same on the other to "pair" them, also most devices stay hidden by default unless you make them visible, lastly you can set devices as "trusted" so they will auto pair when in range (ie bluetooth headset trusted and paired with phone or phone set to trusted with your computer so it will automatically connect when in range)

Starting to be used for things like printers so you dont need to have it cabled to the computer, useful if you have a laptop and dont want to have to keep plugging and un plugging the printer.

Personally I dont use it too much, find it saps my phones battery too much (S60 piece of junk)
