I was asked to make some corbels for a listed building along with some trim. I made a start on them on Monday and got them ready for painting today.

And here is a pic of them with the older brother.

customer should be happy with those I think. Got to admit I was well pleased that it all turned out right. :D

They look great - It would be even nicer if you gave us a quick description how you made them I wouldn't have a clue!

Ok Razor, you asked for it. I started by making the main sections on the bandsaw. I made these in three pieces before cutting the flutes in each side and glueing them together like this.
Image
Next I made the lower mouldings from three seperate pieces using the bandsaw, and the router table.
Image
Then the backplates were made from some 1 x 6" and shaped with the bandsaw and rebated on the Radial arm saw.
Image
Then I assembled them all on to the back plates.
It was a fiddly job on some of the mouldings but was certainly a challenge. (I like those)
I don't think it is normal practice Cannyfixit but on listed buildings it has to be in accordance with what was originally fitted. I am not sure about the details as there are different listings. (This one is a grade 2 listed, whatever that means?) I was commisioned to make these by the owner who is restoring two buildings side by side. HTH. :thumbright:
Thanks RO, I was rather pleased with them myself. :-)
