Yeah so I've only ever needed to paint over existing paper before and I'm kinda bricking it.

This is the stuff I'm using https://www.screwfix.com/p/erfurt-red-label-double-lining-paper-natural-560mm-x-20m/48424

I've been reading online and some places say I have to hang it vertically some horizontally, what is the best way to do this and does anyone have any tips in general? I'm just going to be painting over it.

Also do I have to do anything to the wall other than remove the old wallpaper?

Thanks

After the first length I've always found horizontal to be far easier and quicker but you will probably need 2 steps and a plank. Only tips I can give are apply plenty paste but don't use too wet a sponge to wipe of the excess. You don't want the edges soaked with water.

you usually only cross line if you were going to hang wallpaper over the top of lining paper..If you haven't done it before then i would hang it vertically.

Cross-lining is really only for under wallpaper, though I know people who do it for the emulsion. If your seams are tidy, either method will work, but vertically for painting is the correct way, strictly speaking. :thumbright:
