I need to hang a new type of boiler on a wall... it has an extra section between the wall bracket bracket & boiler.

The wall barcket is about 4" x 8", and the boiler by itself usually comes with 2 8mm bolts & grey nylon plugs.

The total weight of the combined appliance is 47Kg (not sure if that is empty of not, but if so contains about about 18 lt of water to add on)... what is the best kinda fixings to use, bearing in mind the plate has a selection of 8mm holes.

Id be inclined to use a few longish M8 through bolts. Into a good brick/block it will be adequate.

Whats the add on Spike? not a Zennex unit is it?

Just looked up zenex units! seems a good idea, but most modern boilers already extract as much heat as possible from the flue gases.

Vaillant have added a 15 lt store to the back of the 37kw combi, to increase the flow rate from 15 lt/min to 20 lt/min... the perforance will drop to 15 lt/min over the 1st 200 lts of water produced.
The store has a 2min recovery time! The unit doesn't come out until 1st April, so hopefully I'll have one the 1st brought from Germany.
(list price is £1650 plus vat!)

I went over to the grey fischer plug a month or so ago, they really are much better than a standard smooth plug.

Agree with Steve, cut some studding to length, mark your holes drill em, blow em out, the close your eyes  , squirt in the squirty, the two part systems get very hot and are good to go in 20 mins or so. Gripfil does the same job but best to cure over 48 hours. The chemical fixes dont put any expansive loads on the block/brick.

Spike,

http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?id=11468&ts=27465

Just drill an 8mm hole, bang them in, and tighten up.

The zennex units are supposed to use the flues heat to heat water if i remember rightly.
Inside the box is basically a central tube, with a coil of thin stainless steel hose around it, and some fins that act as a heat sink.

Hitch, you forgot to mention either winding the nut to the end of the thread/use a mallet, or better still both, nothing worse than coming to undo a thrubolt thats been mushroomed on the end of the thread, usually 40foot up a wall somewhere.

I got some 8mm anchor bolts from B&Q today... will be interesting to see what the boiler comes with to support it.

The normal combi unit (45kg) comes with just 2 of each of these...

grey 10mm plugs
http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?ts=48180&id=13756

coach screws
http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?cId=100026&ts=48249&id=13425

and a couple of 12mm washers.

I normally put some extras in too!
