Hi again, I need to buy some bathroom paint, which is the best make Dulux? I only ask because I have heard their white is useless, and seeing as I have a lot of paint to buy I want to get it right first time. Same question for kitchen paint too.

Thank you.

I normally paint walls and ceiling in eggshell given the choice, midsheen looks ok as well.

As for a brand I use Macphersons (part of Crown) but there are many others, haven't heard anything bad about Dulux eggshell :dunno:

Dulux trade eggshell is good, but extremely expensive. A soft sheen wall paint from Johnstones or Crown trade are pretty good. The trade versions are always better opacity wise.

Hi thanks for your help & advice :thumbleft:

I would be using white eggshell on the woodwork. So I could also use eggshell on the walls as well, rather than an emulsion made for bathrooms? I would prefer a mid sheen look.
The person who lived here before painted it in Matt emulsion, which comes off as I wipe it ::b Would I need to rub down the matt before applying the new paint?

Thanks

When you say "coming off" do you mean flaking off or just rubbing off on a cloth ? If it is the latter I would give it a good clean down with an abrasive pad to take any real dusty residue away and then give it two coats.

Since I posted this the paint is now flaking off in places. Do I need to give it a light rub down with sand paper before painting the walls?

No give is a good hard sand with P60 grit sand paper to remove loose paint, then go ahead.

Okay P60 it is. Glad it's just one and a half walls, the rest we are tiling. But I guess they'll still need a good rub down too.

Thanks :thumbleft:
