I've already had a sparks look at it whilst on site. From an electrical point of view it all looks ok (but no).
I've since spoken to a hire firm that I know that has a shed load of belle mixers & he has major issues with switches & motors since around 2005/6.
Basically it looks like Belle have changed their suppliers/manufacturers for these parts.
NOT happy, but there simply isn't a close competitor.

welcome to the forum,
sorry but these would be different issues to the elec mixers, honda are the best engine for this type of equipment, so I'm sure that if you resolve your problem you will get good use from your belle.

Bloody rubbish, another one packed up (this one is probably switch, still got another one that I'm not sure what is wrong and am reluctant to spend money trying out differing solutions).
I cannot believe that a successful company would want to go from being THE only choice to being run of the mill.
On a similar note I have noticed that we are going through power tools much quicker than we used to, might start a different thread on this.

Hi all,
Most of the problems with Belle electric mixers are centred around the cooling fan on the motor. In recent years Belle have used a poorer quality motor, probably from China, and it has a very flimsy plastic cooling fan. They had a bad batch of cooling fans and recently a lot of the fans have just disintegrated.
If your mixer runs for 30 minutes then cuts out, leave it for 10 to 20 minutes and try it again. If it then starts and runs you know the thermal on/off switch is ok and its most probably the fan not doing its job to cool the motor. Before you do any work on it remove the plug from the mains !!
You can easily check it by taking off the plastic cover on the switch end of the motor. That will reveal the wiring and capacitor and back of the switch.
You can then carefully remove the four screws to lift the motor end cover to inspect the fan. Two screews are on the outside of the casing and the other two are inside, One near the top of the capacitor and the other oposite to it on the far side of the casing, They are slighhtly hidden by the wires passing over them. If you release them and carefully ease the cover off, you will see the fan on the end of the motor shaft. If it is broken, get a replacement from belle (they cost very little) it is secured with a small circlip on the end of the shaft. remove the circlip the easy way is to cut the rubber boss off carefully, (dont get bits in the motor) then fit the new one. This all sounds complicated but it is not and will take a few mins to get the covers off and not a lot longer to remove the old fan boss if broken up. We are in Plant and Machinery and have done a few ! Good luck ! |
