Hi All,
I have this noise and bit of draft coming from the front bedroom window. I have been advised to change the hinge and i did but there is no difference.

Am i using the correct type hinge, as the one on the window is the orignal, which i need to replace the one which is on the blue carpet. These hinges are new, as they just came off from Velux windows, as they were changed due it needed to have Heavy duty hinge.

I only have the gap at the centre on the top of the opener, as the 2 sides and bottom edged is tight against the frame. The gap start from the 1/3rd of the edge on either side of the top opener

So please advise any suggestion.

see belwo website for pictures

On top of the window are two lugs that locate into a keep on the frame, are these lugs actually going into the keeps or outside the keeps. If they are not going into their keeps that would cause the gap at the top.
Your photo S8301162.jpg show the grey coloured lug on the top of the window and black keep above it on the frame.

hold a strait edge along the face of the top of the frame/window where the gap/noise is and see if there is any bumps or hollows

often the frame can be pulled out of line by a squint fixing

somtimes you can get slighty larger rubber gasgets to fill the gap

all these measures assume the opening is square withan even spacing all around

Hi Big All,
What is squint fix ?

There is no screws being used, as it has been fixed by foam fixing.

if the central fixing is 6mm out of line for example it can pull the frame out of line causing a gap the sealing rubber gasget cant cover

using foam without a mecanical fixing[bolt /screw/for example]is not a good idea as the foam is only expected to last around 10 years!!!!

Hi Big All,
You right i remeber they never used any mechanical screws/ bolt, as they only used foam to fix the windows.

I need to check if the frame is striaght or not with the level for vertical and Horizontal with window closed and open.
