bedroom ceiling has a coarse painted grit like appearance like a flexible paint to cover up cracks. it is all sound and stuck well to ceiling.is it possible to skim straight over the top. thanks

Hi,

As long as it is not flaking or coming away then i would PVA it and skim it,
firstly try and scrape some off if it comes off easily then this is a big no no if it is stuck on soundly then you should be ok

pva it it, pva usually makes it bubble if its going to come away,
give it a scrape and then if its all good then skim it
