Has anyone anything bad to say about Poly Plumb Polybutylene pipe?

I've heard it more flexable but nothing bad about it is it simply being shadowed by Speedfit and Hep2O?

the partnership who designed Hep2o broke up, and the other one made polyplumb to compete.

Hep2o say its old fashioned, and hasn;t improved like they have, but then they would say that!

I've used it without any problem, and the the fact it uncoils straight, and doesn;t coil back up like speedfit is good.

I used to use a lot of Hep, quite a bit of Polyplumb and occasionally used Speedfit. Polyplumb is the same as Hep used to be.

I feel that all plastic is crap and have heard of so many people that have had failures and houses flooded that I only use end feed.

I'm using either copper or Unipipe... only done a bit of unipipe, but seems a good system (bit expensive!)

I keep hearing this scaremongering from people about speedfit and hep2o.

OK so I don't make 100 connections a week but this stuff has only ever failed me when I failed it, if it's fitted correctly it doesn't leak.

bathstyle have you had failures and house floodings or just hear it from other people?

I seen only one failure, where a speedfit elbow wasn't pushed home onto hep pipe, which only weeped and lost system pressure, rather than bursting off.

I've not had any failures on plastic pipe work i've done.

I saw £50k of damage from a speedfit fitting popping off and a couple of flooded houses from mice biting through Hep in a loft.

Apart from that I just don't like the stuff, I see a lot of Plumbers buying it in the merchants and think a lot less of them, I find that for my type of work copper is better and just as quick.

Totally agree... cant go wrong with copper, looks so much more professional!

Have you seen screwfix's copper prices? City plumbing cant get anywhere near them!

Further 10% off internet listed price in trade counters!

I'll check out the prices, I've never been one for comparing the prices too much as I don't really use a great deal like yourself
