This is not new news.

It is old news that DHT is responsible for male pattern baldness, much of it is genetic.

Many people go bald because of DHT, not because of the weight training, but because of the anabolic steroids that some people take, which are converted to DHT in the body from certain steroids.

Male pattern baldness can be accellerated by taking certain steroids and some people loose thier hair faster then a marine recruit

You can now get another drug called finasteride, which can prevent male pattern baldness in men, but it is not cheap. It is marketed as propecia and is also sold in a stronger form to prevent prostate problems, marketed as proscar.

I have been training for 23 years and so far it has just made me go grey, but my dad was bald and so the chances are that I'll join the baldy club soon.

Like an old gaffer of mine that had very little on the roof, if you go bald at the front, it's a sign of iteligence, if you go bald at the back, it's a sign of verillity.

As he was bald for the majority, he just claimed that he 'thought' he was sexy!

Chez - has your mum got any brothers? if so, what is their hair like? baldness is heireditory, but carried on the female line for some weird reason.

I am very happy about that as my dad was bald as a coot before he was 30 and I am not - and all my mums brothers have a good head of hair :thumbright:

work colleague of mine (who is bald) had a sign by his desk:

"God is Good, God is Fair
To some he gave Brains
The others Hair"

If it from the front, it is genetic and there is nothing you can do.

Finasteride may work on people who loose it from the back, as male pattern baldness, but it is expensive and has some nasty side effects, especially on pregnent women.
