|
|
|
Drained down my system to fit Magnaclean, filled up again and went around bleeding the radiators...
Nearlty all my rads are double panel and I vented the air out ok on them, but one rad in particular seems to have a problem - the back of the rad seems a lot cooler then front and when I open the air bleed for the back half, nothing comes out - no air and no water.
Is there a simple fix for this? _________________ I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"

Remove rad and wash through, it must be blocked. _________________ Stella Stella Stella oy oy oy |

yes there is a bit of muck in the bleed nipple
turn the valves on both side to off
then remove the nipple and poke a pin down the hole it will dislodge the blockage and then air will rush out and the water too. so have the nipple ready to put back in
jasons suggestion of washing it out is not a bad one either _________________ Decking |

Ohh, What a big one you have !!
I will admit (here only, not to boiler makers) that I never ended up having the powerflush
How long did the system go before that Powerflush?? looks like a load of sludge got collected there!!
Only checked the magnaclean once so far - Thursday, so about 4 days after install, and the white plastic part had a film of black sludge on it. I actually emptied the the container and used it to fill with some inhibitor as still not installed the towel rad - which I wanted to use to fill the inhibitor through. Got 300ml in that way, and will top up again this weekend same way (if I got a 100L system, that should only lose me about 10ml of inhibitor if it mixed up nicely by then) _________________ I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"

That picture was taken on a boiler change, the system was about 25yrs old, and reported as working fine.
I did one last week, with only 6 rads, a primatic cylinder... The system was creating gas in the rads, and the downstairs rads never got hot along the bottoms.
I got out one small magnaclean, and 2 large magnacleans of sludge from the system! _________________ www.hintonheating.com
