I have just updated my free AVG to the 2011 version and they offered the PC Tune Up Facility. You can use it free once only but if you want to keep it then it will cost £23 for a year. I downloaded the trial version and ran it for free and it tells me that it has cleaned loads of registry errors and stuff like that and I was wondering if it is worth buying or if it is a bit of a swizz.

What do you reckon????

I installed the hacked version of AVG Pro onto my mum's laptop and it does work a treat but I wouldnt pay the £23 a year for it.

PS - I know its a hacked version isnt the best defence against the hackers but its my mum's laptop and not mine

I don't think it's worth the money. Free tools like ccleaner can deal with the registry errors and junk files and you can use the built-in Windows defrag tool to defrag your drive(s).

I've just remembered that the makers of ccleaner have a free defrag tool called defraggler http://www.piriform.com/defraggler, which I haven't tried, but I'd imagine it's better than the built-in Windows defrag tool.

Reference my other post on this subject, I used to use ccleaner a few times a week, but this never seemed to find much. Now been removed and deleted.

The new one found hundreds of problems and optimised my pc. I now have it set for checking/optomisation every 3 days.

I would pay for it now if I had to, but I don't.

The difference is visibly a hell of a lot faster.
