Many year ago when I was trying to study photograghy I did a photo-journalism assignment and went to Donnington and Oulton Park and cover the Touring car championships. It was in its very first years and access was completly unrestricted Thumbright

You could get access to the pit lane, scrutineers area etc - especially at Oulton Park. I've got a great shot of a F3 car's wing mirror just as the driver (who was sat in his car) looked into his mirror to see what I was doing leaning against his rear wheel.

I went a couple of years later to Donnington and they'd put 20 foot catch fencing all the way round as the year earlier a car had lost a wheel and it had gone into the crowd Shocked - spoilt it from a photography point of view but safety should come first Rolling Eyes
