Hi guys

Just fitted a fence for a customer and whilst I have done loads of fence jobs before I haven't done one with a gate.

Fencing is up but left gate as it just didn't make obvious sense on how to fit.
Fencing company provided 2 battens plus gate.

I was thinking thunderbolt through post into batten and hang gate but the gate would be too narrow with those battens.

Any ideas, it's a double palisade gate too so pretty heavy.

Cheers

Rob

You are showing the timber end on, in the recess of the post.

Cant you fit a timber tight into the recess, easy enough to plug and screw, do both sides the same then add on timber to required opening.

That's the only way it seemed to fit. So are you saying fit a batten inside post groove then screw gate posts to that batten? Does the gate have to sit out of the fence line?

How wide is the gate, and what's the distance between the posts?

Just under 3ft wide gap. Gate needs to be made as other was too wide. Basically it's a blank canvas at present
