Got a bit of a problem with my bike. Have been using it for the last week. Went out tonight, and my handle bars turned upwards  This resulted in my brake and gear cables facing upwards rather than outwards. If that makes sense :dunno: I got off the bike tightened the nut on the handlebars. I then went to cycle again and noticed that my gear will not shift up to high. The gear handle is tight.
:dunno:

I tried to losen the gear cable but with little effect.

No

Trying to loose a bit of weight. Goes out on my bike and my handle bars nearly come off :wtf:

I have hardly used the thing as well.

I don't want to take it into a repair shop. I am hoping it is something simple to repair

I just haven't been able to figure it out

There's usually a wing nut type thing that fit a clamp on the pillar, the same as the seat adjuster.

A pic perhaps :thumbright:

My wife uses a menstru version on a (seemingly) regular basis.

You can always email them if you can't figure the computer out.

Should just be 2 or 4 bolts at the stem that need tightening...shouldn't be too hard. Most bikes give you a range of adjustments to make it easier on your wrists.

You might get lucky and be able to see where it was (dirt or lack of wear on the covered bit).

Here is one off google, from a road bike....both my x-country and road bike are very similar:

B G. The picture that you are showing me is the handle bars right ?

I have managed to tighten the nut.

Any ideas as to why I can't shift my gears from 14 to 21. Every time I try and shift the gear it will not allow me. It is very tight.

No picture as yet.

To be honest Weegie without having a look it would be difficult to diagnose but i suspect you have either stretched the cable or maybe knocked the adjuster, but to be honest it would be no more than £20 to get it sorted at a reputable bike shop

I'm with Lee....nothing feels better than a bike that's just been serviced by a decent person. It's weird, but true.

Had a look again today. No joy. Will take it into a cycle shop tommorow for a check.

Leebwk. When the handle bars turned the gear cable became slack. Thought it was just a case of tightening the cable again. Wasn't that easy.

Cheers guys.
