Hi,
I am new - actually I joined a while ago but didn't get round to stopping in much, planning on being a more active user now! Should I say a bit about myself? I studied architecture at Sheffield Uni, worked in an architects practice in Glasgow for a bit but didn't carry on with the studies needed to qualify as an architect - I left to play in a band, then after that I moved to Romania to work for a charity for 2 years, then moved back to Sheffield and started training as a joiner. (I'd realised what I loved was actually making buildings not just drawing them, and there's no material I love more than wood!). Now I'm working alongside a more experienced joiner doing mostly private jobs. I'm also trying to build up a business on the side drawing plans etc. And one day I might bite the bullet and finish my architectural training, if I can afford it!
So that's me |

A very warm welcome to the forum.
I have a high regard for people, who can work with wood, as I can't! And I don't mean MDF I mean proper wood.
It's a centuries old skill and when you see the craftsmanship of furniture a few hundred years old the mind just boggles as to how such works of art are possible. _________________ Never lie - that way you don't have to remember what you said. |

Wow you are all so friendly! And there seem to be a lot of wood lovers out there! Yeah I love perfect wood shavings from a sharp plane, and the smell of it.
