Doing the garden today, edging stone, graveling, ect, the good lady has moaned long enough to get it sorted, so whilst iv got some days off i started today.
Needed my angle grinder for cutting the edgeing stones, could i hell find my angle grinder, most proberly lent it out and never got it back, so went to machine mart and picked there own 9 inch angle grinder.
It,s a Clarke, CAG232 model.
I must say it was a cheapie realy, but not bad at all, i had to buy a stone disc as it was supplied with a metal cutting disc, you also got a spare set of bush,s and a falnge key.
So in all not a a bad buy at all, it will be ok for light work as its 6000rpm, diy work ect. But as said inpressed realy, as it cut stone well.
Has, or does anyone bought from machine mart and bought there clarke range of tools, i have bought from them before, i had some ring spanners from them a few years back and there still going strong, not snapped or distorted or anything. :-)

I bought the exact same angle grinder.

I used it to cut slabs and it did the job without fault.
What a difference it made when I used a diamond disc with it. Well worth the money :thumbright:

How much was it out of interest?
9" grinders are reasonably cheap, even for the higher ranking brands.

The difference between some of the cheapies and the decent ones is incredible, disc run out and vibration are the most noticeable.
Admitadly, some of it comes down to the quality of the disc fitted.

I'm sure I paid about £35 quid for it.

Not bad then, for a 4 times a year tool.

I tend to use grinders a lot, after a few mins wobbly ones become impossible to hold onto!

although the 6000 rpm angle grinders are good for cutting stone, i have found out through experience that on diamond discs a lower rpm would considerably lengthen the life of the blade. Cheap angle grinders won't last long with diamond blades. i use the felisatti grinders. they are real workhorses and have a sturdy gearbox. the rpm is 4500. with this grinder i can handle the dry cutting of any type of granite.
