That looks a nice window Hoovie.
When I had ours replaced we went for 'Fleur De Lys' in the top, chap thought I was a Boy Scout (right height) until he saw the same motif in the brick wall.

we were very pleased with how well they replicated it. Sadly that company has now gone out of business.
We have another original leaded feature window - 2' x 5' that we had to replace with a new window as it was a ground side window (leaded glass windows are very insecure against toerag burglars) and still have that in a box wondering what to do with it.
When we get the windows replaced in our current house (crap Anglian Window rubbish) in 5-10 years time, I reckon we will reintroduce the 'proper' style of Frames and windows the house is meant to have _________________ If you have a son, DO NOT name him after a verb ....

| I used to repair stained/leaded glass and what we did if we had a few breaks on a set like yours was take the worst one of the set and use it sacrificially. I am sure Seddon would hate us for it! That way you have the majority in the correct glass and only one needing new glass, which could hopefully be put in as unobtrusive a place as possible. Like Seddon we kept glass from old unrepairable ones to try and match up. We always thought it was best to try and keep most of a set as original as possible. |
