Just looking to replace our bathroom suite which I think was installed when the house was built in the 70's. I would like to fit this myself but am not sure about the latest rules and regulations - I understand pipes have to be earthed, etc. - am I allowed to do this?
I have looked at the existing pipework which all looks ok but I cannot see any earth wires attached to any of them. There is a toilet, sink, bath and electric shower over the bath (professional fitted a few years ago). I am assuming the rules have changed since the 70's and that I now need to bring this up to date? Is this a job for diy'er or does it need an electrician to sort it out?
Thank you for your advice.

The shower should be done by an electrician if your not confident.
Not sure you need bonding etc now, one of the others will know for sure.

only gas electric or structural work is covered if you have no gas in the bathroom then thats excluded if you are leaving the electrics untouched as in wires unaltered you can replace fittings like for like new pull switches new light fittings new shave socket etc something like an extractor or a new shaver socket in a different location are notifiable removing a chimney breast for example are notifiable

I am only looking to replace the toilet, sink, bath and taps - not going to touch the electrics. Just not sure if the pipes need connecting together in any way. Many thanks for the info.

i would probably look to get an electrical inspection done at some point though... i would've thought you should have bonding in there somewhere

i should further add you have water regulations that prevent you from doing things like pumping from the mains for a shower you need a larger header tank
