Finally lost his battle with cancer aged 61.

When he was in his prime he would've been perfect to promote the new speed snooker. The sport desperately needs some players with personality at the moment.

Sad news indeed.

Snooker like a most so called sports is all about money, who cares how pretty it looks as long as you win.

I refereed a semi final match a couple of months back, 42 bloody minutes before a ball was potted. ::b over 4 hours for a best of 5. Pathetic.

Bit like one day cricket, OK for some tournaments, but not world or ranking ones.

I can see them using a timer in the future, say 2mins to make a shot.

The referee can actually take a player to one side and warn him/her about slow play, the real problem is like the game I refereed, no-one was going for a pot, just safety play and more safety play, and all you can do is stand there and look happy.
