SDS Drill Bit and Chisel Set £4.99 wouldnt waste the effort putting them into my drill they really cant be much good for that price .... i know i am a sceptic lol

I bought some when they were on sale a couple of years ago. They have done a lot of work and well worth a fiver.

They have a three year warrantee, how can they not be worth a tenner.

There is way too much snobbery about tools imo.

It doesn't have to be AS good as the top brands to be waaay better value.

If these last three years (even if I need to exchange them twice) that is still excellent value for money.

Two of the best value tools I bought are a small mouse sander from tescos, and a cheapo 240v planer from B&Q, both on offer, and both for ~£12. They are both excellent and I have had plenty of work out of each allready.

guarantee wont cover em thinning out though mate, and thats what sds bits are prone to do... a lot of the cheaper ones thin out way to quick but at that price, if theyre not getting hammered on a daily basis you cant go wrong really...
liking the cores at 30 quid too... they never get enough use to warrant a 100 quid set... ive had my old ones years and the arbour seizes on em through lack of use...

just clicked on the detail for em though... 52mm is a bit big, 28mm is too small, 107's alright but could do with being 125mm so you can get the soil pipe collars in the wall..

might have to go nick the arbour and drift out of a set

or then again... might need a 52 and a 28 one day... always adds...

wonder if that mini blender would knock tile grount up

Used the core drill bits today, knocked two holes through a double skin concrete block wall with the 107mm drill. I was very suprised at how good it was.

I've also used the sds bits a fair bit by now. They are not very good, but more than paid for themselves.

The real test will come on Thursday/Friday when I need to punch a 100mm hole through an 18" thick solid stone wall

I'm thinking of getting that Ryobi Core drill set from Srewfix for £69. Seems a good price but from the pics they seem very similar to many other cheaper core bits just rebadged so not sure...

i think the lidle and aldy cheapies are great at diy level they are brilliant
where money is much more important than time
you can often get a tool that will perform well off course if it inconveniently breaks down you get your money back as the specials are seldom repeated when you want them lol

ryobi is a much better bet the quality is more reliable and faulty tools are fully covered and replaced usualy within a week

When my dad was alive he used to work at Britool, many a time he'd walk past a cheap spanner set or socket set and say they were cheaper than Britool could buy the raw steel for !
